Dear Unigrid community,

We’d like to share a few important updates as we continue working toward a decentralized, community-owned cloud infrastructure.

Development continues

The Unigrid Foundation retains full intellectual property rights to the Unigrid codebase. Fresh repositories and independent infrastructure are now online, and although progress is currently a bit slower, development and testing are ongoing with a clear path forward.

Hedgehog: next-generation client

Work on the Hedgehog client is in progress. It’s being adapted to read the legacy blockchain data from the original Bitcoin codebase. This will allow us to fully move away from the old network and its dependency on the Bitcoin API. As Hedgehog evolves, community testing will be important to help identify issues and improve stability—we’ll share more when test builds are ready.

Improved governance

We’ve expanded the board to include independent directors. Our next focus is strengthening on-chain governance to ensure no single holder controls a disproportionate share of coins, which could risk the network’s integrity. The community will be involved throughout this process.
